Lazy Saturdays in a Sleepy German Town

When you live in a tiny town in rural Germany, there is not a whole lot to do on the weekends. There is also not a whole lot to write about; a bit of a dilemma for an aspiring travel blogger. In truth, I have spent a good amount of time worrying about how to sustain my travel blog over the next couple of months until I go to Greece. Being limited on time and money means that I am just not travelling much.Granted, I am going to Prague next weekend but I donโ€™t want to leave my blog hanging until then.

Not wanting to write yet another list or bombard you with a million pictures of the forest surrounding my German home (just one, I promise), I thought I would get real and talk to you about my Saturday.

Saturday is the best day of the week. Today, I leapt out of bed at 8:30 and walked through the forest to my sisters house. Curled on the couch with the heaters making the room toasty, the weather was grey and misty outside. We ate hot crepes filled with blueberries, cream and speculoos cookie butter. We drank french press coffee and browsed Pintrest (she is getting married in September- oh holy wedding boards!). We watched a fair few cat videos. This one being my favourite. Seriously, all Saturday mornings should have these things. Cats, coffee and cookie butter.

After leaving my sisters, I made myself at home in the local coffee shop (the only coffee shop) where everyone is your friend and the coffee is fair-trade and plentiful. I might stay awhile.

Oh Saturdays, I love you.

What do you like to do with your Saturdays? Lots of activities or lots of sleeping? Leave me a comment or email me at dirtypawsblog@gmail.com.ย

  1. When I lived in Germany, Saturdays were a morning hike in the forest (rain or shine) and a big breakfast and a nap. Maybe some reading.. Maybe some baking.. Lots of tea. Ahhh I miss those days..

  2. Loved the pictures (yes, even the forest one :D)
Everyone should have Saturdays like these! I usually sleep until very late, I must change that, it has been on all my new years resolutions’ lists and I still didn’t manage to change it aaaahhh

  3. Love the photos! They basically sum up a perfect Saturday! Those days just hanging around your home, local coffee shop and local area can be the best! ๐Ÿ™‚
